Day 1: Hong Kong 2013

Our flight arrived at around 2pm via Cathay Pacific last December 21, 2013. This is actually our 3rd time in Hong Kong so we didn't exactly have things planned out since we've been to the main tourist spots.

For our first two nights in HK, we decided to check in Nathan Hotel because of its location and good reviews. Surprisingly enough, when we checked in we were upgraded to a Junior Suite! Their service is amazing for a good amount of money. Located along Nathan road, it is across the street from a Mcdonalds, shopping, and the Starbucks is located conveniently inside the hotel. The Jordan MTR station is also a few minutes walk away.

Of course the first thing that we did after checking in and settling down was look for food. Apparently they actually had Din Tai Fung in HK. Din Tai Fung is actually a Taiwanese Restaurant and is famous worldwide for their Xiao Long Bao which are dumplings with pork and soup inside. My parents have actually tried it before in Singapore so I was the only one who was curious. We ordered vegetables, spicy shrimp dumplings, xiao long bao, beef noodle soup and my favorite dessert: taro dumpling. I seriously did not expect the two to go so perfectly well together, but they do.

Din Tai Fung is located at Silvercord Mall along Canton Road which is a short walk from the Tsim Sha Tsui Station.

If plan to go to Din Tai Fung, be sure to come there during the non-peak eating periods because lines get pretty long and waiting time will take you more than an hour. (That's how good it is!)

After walking around Canton Road after dinner, we headed straight to Temple Street Night Market which again is not too far from our hotel. The night market is just as you'd expect: weird things at bargainable prices. Not too special if you ask me since we have even better places for bargain shopping here in Manila (e.g. Greenhills, Divisoria, etc.)

We ended the day after that and took a rest looking forward to another day of adventure.

I promise to post more soon! I'm quite sick and starting tomorrow we'll be very busy again so I promise to do my best to post more frequently! :) Happy Holidays!
