Feeling Book Reviewer: April - July 2013

Yes, I know what you're thinking....I suck. 4 books (excluding required readings in school) in 4 months? Not impressive at all. I need to get back to my regular pace but...oh wait school is in the way. According to goodreads, I am 4 books behind schedule for my goal of 35 books for this year and I've only read 16 so far.

Flat-Out Matt by Jessica Park: ★★★★★ 

Like the book that came before it, Flat-Out Matt did not fail to impress. The book was written in Matt's perspective, replaying certain scenes from Flat-Out Love which gives insight on his side of the story. A lot of swooning ensued and my love for Matt just reached a totally different level because of this book. The length of this one is rather short, but great nonetheless.

If He Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlin: ★★★★

A book that broke my heart. Seriously, I didn't even think it was even possible. It is about two childhood friends Autumn and Finny who eventually grew apart despite being neighbours and being around each other all the time because their mothers are best friends. The whole book covered their entire high school years and how their small interactions affected their emotions for each other. It also showed how they grew apart then gravitated toward each other eventually. The story had a very realistic pace (it got me bored at some parts) but towards the end, there was a huge build up of emotion that had me screaming "JUST GET TOGETHER ALREADY DAMMIT". I don't want to spoil the ending, but I'll just say again that this book will get you insanely frustrated and will smash your heart into smithereens...in a good way if you can put it. 

  

The Summer I Became A Nerd by Leah Rae Miller: ★★★★

More swooning for this book, mostly because PJ Ligouri was on my mind the entire time as Logan. Dammit... they were so similar as he was described physically. And the nerdiness of Logan I need not compare to PJ's. The book is about a girl named Maddie who was too embarrassed to be a "nerd" that she hides her friendship with Logan after their encounter at the comic book store. Logan's family owns the comic book store and is labeled as a "nerd" and hosts his own radio show at night. Okay. This fact of the plot actually annoyed me because her problem was stupid. However, I guess that's what the book was trying to prove. You'll only be happiest if you stay true to yourself and to others. The book also had several "nerdy" references and had an awesome LARP scene which made me want to try LARP-ing myself! This is a very light and short read(I finished it in one night) and there those tiny moments in the book that made my toes curl. 

Just One Wish by Janette Rallison:★★★1/2

Annika's little brother Jeremy is sick with cancer. His days are numbered so when she asked him for a wish, he chose to meet the real life teen Robin Hood played by the famous actor Steve Raleigh. She doesn't have much time so the next day, she goes on a road trip with her best friend to look for Steve. They go through various funny scenarios to meet Steve and I admired her determination to make her brother happy. The romantic development between Steve and Annika were too fast for me, but there was undeniable chemistry between the two of them. What made me rate it 4 stars on goodreads was the ending which made me sob like a baby. I was content with the ending, but I just wished it could have ended differently.

Feeling Book Reviewer: February - March 2013

I just feel so bad I've only read 5 books in two months (the other is TFIOS which I reread because Augustus Waters is perfect). 

Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler: ★★★★

The story is about a former figure skater who quit because her parents split up. Typical YA plot with a broken family and a struggling protagonist. There's a little love triangle in it, but it was a no brainer for me who she'd choose in the end. It's a good read! (Wala talaga akong kwenta mag book review I'm sorry)
The main character bakes a lot of cupcakes so get ready for intense cravings. I was lucky enough that I had a whole box of cupcakes with me so I didn't end up craving!

Flat-Out love by Jessica Park: ★★★★★

Okay this book I had to gush over during and after reading. It starts when Julie moves to Boston for college only to find out she's been ripped off on craigslist so she has to find a new place to stay. Her mom got her friend Erin to take Julie in to their home since they have an extra room. There, Julie meets Erin's kids Matt, Celeste and cardboard Finn. Yes, cardboard Finn. Through facebook though, Julie talks to human Finn and they hit it off. But things get complicated and there are a lot of psychological twists and turns. Read it to know more about it! This book won't disappoint and is definitely one of my favorite books! It's unpredictable and it's a very unsual plot which I loved. I hope I can find more books like these. PLEASE READ IT!

Easy by Tammara Webber:★★★★1/2

A new adult book that will leave you swooning. It's mysterious...or rather, Lucas is so mysterious (and hot). It's one of those easy reads because it felt like the book was just more focused on the romance, not on character development(???gumaganon???).  It makes me feel bad though because I feel like the only reason I love this book is because of Lucas.

Such a Rush by Jennifer Echols:★★★★
I'd gush over this book too if only the main character wasn't as annoying as she was. Maybe we just lacked ~connection~ and our attitudes were different? I really liked the concept of them as pilots though because I personally love airplanes and it would be a dream to fly one. I would've given it 5 stars if the main character Leah was less annoying because the development and pacing of the story is actually good. The twins reminded me of Jack and Finn Harries since they were described as very attractive brothers. Grayson Hall though... he seems so dreamy! 

Feeling Book Reviewer: Gayle Forman

A long overdue post on Gayle Forman's works! Another all-over-the-place book review by yours truly.

If I Stay:★★★
I must admit, this book isn't one of the best I've read. It's dull at parts and interesting in others. It just got me frustrated when everything kept going back and forth from flashbacks to her present ghost self. It gets boring at some parts too. You'll need to read this though, because the sequel is really good.

Where She Went:★★★★
A sequel to If I Stay, this book is written in Adam's point of view when he's finally a famous rockstar and Mia is making her own name in the classical music industry. The book covers a day in Adam's life a few years after the accident when Adam and Mia cross paths again in New York City.  Where She Went was so beautifully written with such raw emotions conveyed from Adam's point of view. This book has realistic characters dealing with realistic problems that will just make your heart hurt (most possibly in a good way).

Just One Day:★★★★★
I could list down a thousand reasons why you should read this book NOW but of course that won't be practical. It's that good! Special mention again to Fiel for making me read this book a day after it came out! Okay.

This book will set your wanderlust to overdrive. From Stratford-Upon-Avon to London to Paris to Boston to New York to Mexico to Amsterdam. If I can't go to London then at least I've visited it in my imagination, right? Right. Also, the swoon-worthy Willem De Ruiter, a Dutch actor who takes Lulu on a spontaneous trip to Paris for just one day is mysterious, spontaneous, sweet and dare I say it...attractive. I love how the book was associated to As You Like It by William Shakespeare which will be elaborated in the later chapters of the book. I read this book in two days. Once you start this book, it will be hard to put it down. This book got me laughing, then crying, then screaming "WHY" and it was a cycle while I was on the edge of my seat. Of course, I hated the ending because it was such a huge cliffhanger, but that just means I will be doing a happy dance when Just One Year comes out!!!

I'd probably go to the extent of getting on my knees and begging you to READ THIS BOOK.

Just like Where She Went, Just One Year will be in Willem's point of view. Gayle Forman just keeps on getting better and better with her writing and I cannot wait for Just One Year. I. CANNOT. WAIT.

Okay I just found this on USA Today (which convinced me to write this blogpost now). I might throw a fit. I need this on my bookshelf NOW.

Feeling Book Reviewer: December 2012-early January 2012

Let's all pretend I'm eligible to make book reviews. Personally, I'm doing this for myself so I can keep track of all the books I read in order. My Goodreads account has it all jumbled up. Haha

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins: ★★★★★ 

All kinds of praises will not do justice for this book because I swear to everyone that this will easily be one of your favorite books ever. That's how good it is. It made me 10 times more excited to visit Paris. Plus, Etienne St. Claire will keep you swooning all throughout the book. I'm begging you to read this book. You will not regret it.

Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins: ★★★★

I think Anna and the French Kiss set the bar too high that I was quite disappointed with this one. Definitely above average given that I rated it four stars, but I was just expecting more. Very sweet though and I appreciate Anna and Etienne's special appearances. 

Meant to be by Lauren Morrill: ★★★

It's set in London. That's the real reason why I wanted to read this book. Overall, I'd probably rate it 4 stars but keeping in mind that a lot of scenes are cliché, I made it a 3. (Feeler na eligible mag book review) The story is cute but it lacks originality.

Amy and Roger's Epic Detour by Morgan Matson: ★★★

I have this thing for books that involve some sort of exploration, and this is one of those given it's a road trip book. I really love the playlists, the sketches and the maps. But it lacked some sort of climax. Plus, the romantic connection between Amy and Roger was all too sudden for me.

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson: ★★★★1/2 

This book made me cry buckets. I personally have a soft spot for father-daughter stories. Just like when I read "The Last Song" on the 13 hour flight to America with people around me wondering why I was crying all by myself. It's so close to perfect since it focuses on a lot of aspects: friends, love, family and self. I love it.

I've heard of this book from a lot of people, but what convinced me to really read this book is John Green. Now, I won't go all trying hard to be a book reviewer, because I am not. I just wanna post up here the books I've been reading recently...especially if they're good. Now I started reading the first 2 chapters of this book on my dad's iPad when we were on our way to our province, but since I never really had the chance to get back to it, I did last night. I read the rest of the book for 3 hours from 11pm to 2am.

This book has a certain charm. Maybe it's the British boy named Ollie, maybe it's the likeable heroine of the story Hadely, or maybe it's because the story was set in an airport, airplane and London, all places I absolutely love. Or maybe it's the plot in general. I've always wondered what I would do if I meet someone in an airport of all places. I will admit that at first I thought it was just one of those typical YA novels about a girl finding love and whatnot. Surprisingly, it also tackles family issues which got to me since I'm such a daddy's girl. The story was beautifully written considering that the whole book covers only 24 hours of their lives. It's amazing how you feel like you've known these characters for more than a day. Of course I was shocked when I realized I already finished the book since it was very open ended and I had the usual separation anxiety I have with fictional characters. Haha! All in all it was a very good easy read when you wanna forget about your own problems haha. I can imagine this as a cute feel good chick flick. I do hope they turn this into a movie!

I'd rate this 4.5/5 stars if I'm even eligible to rate this book. Haha
